It is with profound regret that we announce the passing of Ian Trevor Lambert of Aylmer, Québec, on February 16, 2019.

A fiercely proud Newfoundlander, Ian was born and raised in beautiful Southport on the southern side of the entrance to Trinity Bay's Southwest Arm.  During his youth, as a member of Cadets Canada, he cultived a life-long knack for leadership and problem-solving, and a deep love of nature. Later, as a Cadet Leader himself, he left an indelible mark on so many young lives. Late in his teens, he left his beloved province for Québec. There he completed his university studies and cultivated his love for the French language and culture.

After living in Québec City, Montréal and Trois-Rivières, Ian moved to Ottawa to work at Cadets Canada headquarters. Some years later, his career brought him into the fold of the Federal Public Service where his many qualities, especially those having to do with patiently providing heart-felt mentorship, touched countless colleagues.

Recently, Ian was described in this manner: highly intelligent, voracious reader, loves to walk, endlessly curious, warm, kind, politically astute, keenly aware of social and world issues and wanting to change the world. A problem solver. A trailblazer for social justice before that term even existed.  Fun with a great sense of humour. Coffee drinker. A nature lover. Very social. Enjoys music.  A lover of trees, water, plants and all animals. Full of awe and wonder. A son. A brother. An uncle. A friend. A highly-respected and dedicated public servant.

Ian leaves behind his loving parents Gordon and Ivy Lambert, his sister Margaret Baker (Greg), his brother Conrad Lambert (Roxanne), his niece Rhiannon, his nephews Mattheson, Noah and Gavin, his companion Paul Boult, and countless other family members, friends and colleagues

Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate Ian’s life, on Sunday April 28, 2019 between 1 to 5 p.m. at the Borden and Fleming Suites of the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ian to the Ottawa Humane Society  www.ottawahumane.ca or the charity of your choice will be appreciated.

My sincere sympathies are sent to all of Ian’s family, friends and loved ones. I worked with Ian at Argonaut and saw him often when I traveled to Ottawa for meetings through the years . His smile, that is my first thought , he was always smiling. He will always be remembered. The world has lost the kindest of souls .

I only recently met Ian and Paul, and I am so sad that I will never get to know Ian the way so many of you have known him. From that short time, I found that he was funny, kind, brilliant and an animal lover. The world has lost a truly sweet person. My sincere condolences. Julie
