It is with profound regret that we announce the passing of Ian Trevor Lambert of Aylmer, Québec, on February 16, 2019.
A fiercely proud Newfoundlander, Ian was born and raised in beautiful Southport on the southern side of the entrance to Trinity Bay's Southwest Arm. During his youth, as a member of Cadets Canada, he cultived a life-long knack for leadership and problem-solving, and a deep love of nature. Later, as a Cadet Leader himself, he left an indelible mark on so many young lives. Late in his teens, he left his beloved province for Québec. There he completed his university studies and cultivated his love for the French language and culture.
After living in Québec City, Montréal and Trois-Rivières, Ian moved to Ottawa to work at Cadets Canada headquarters. Some years later, his career brought him into the fold of the Federal Public Service where his many qualities, especially those having to do with patiently providing heart-felt mentorship, touched countless colleagues.
Recently, Ian was described in this manner: highly intelligent, voracious reader, loves to walk, endlessly curious, warm, kind, politically astute, keenly aware of social and world issues and wanting to change the world. A problem solver. A trailblazer for social justice before that term even existed. Fun with a great sense of humour. Coffee drinker. A nature lover. Very social. Enjoys music. A lover of trees, water, plants and all animals. Full of awe and wonder. A son. A brother. An uncle. A friend. A highly-respected and dedicated public servant.
Ian leaves behind his loving parents Gordon and Ivy Lambert, his sister Margaret Baker (Greg), his brother Conrad Lambert (Roxanne), his niece Rhiannon, his nephews Mattheson, Noah and Gavin, his companion Paul Boult, and countless other family members, friends and colleagues
Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate Ian’s life, on Sunday April 28, 2019 between 1 to 5 p.m. at the Borden and Fleming Suites of the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ian to the Ottawa Humane Society www.ottawahumane.ca or the charity of your choice will be appreciated.

I will always remember Ian for being a great friend during our high school years. We spent our time going to Clarenville to go see movies or just hanging out. I laugh whenever I think of him watching Aracnophobia he would screem like a girl and I would bust out laughing. He was so smart and would doodle in class drawing road ways that lead to no where. He was a kind hearted person who would never hurt anyone. So sorry for his family and partner. Heaven has gained a wonderful angel.

Always loved meeting up with Ian. A meeting, grabbing a coffee, or a chance encounter at a hockey game or mall, there was always something about his greeting that set him apart! Gawd the humour! And the arguments! It took years and years to realize that he loved a good fight and might take an opposing view just to draw you in. Hysterical, especially in meetings. He was so good I don't think I ever won once, even when I thought I had. Ian you are such an awesome, warm, caring soul. I have difficulty imagining this town without your smile and smart-alec humour, and what you did for others even when some never knew. Thanks for taking such good care of us. Take care buddy.

My beautiful friend, I will remember you always. Your wise words, your humour, love of animals, children....and diet coke. Rest in peace.
