It is with deep sorrow that we announce Mike’s unexpected but peaceful passing, in Ottawa.  Loving father of Kira, Kalen and Poppy McGrath. Husband of Karla Palmer, cherished son of Sean and Heather (nee Lewis) McGrath, brother of Chris and Rob McGrath.  Son-in-law of Richard and Louise Palmer, brother-in law to Jason Palmer and Sandra Law. Loving uncle to Henry Palmer. Fondly remembered by many friends, including the online Muff Wiggler modular synthesizer community. Friends and family are invited to pay respects at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa on Friday April 26 after 1 p.m. Service will be held in the Sacred Space at 2 p.m. Donations can be made in Mike’s name to Serenity Renewal for Families www.serenityrenewal.ca

Thank you for your friendship. For making me feel welcome in my own country when you were the visitor. For taking Luke into your home to crash on your couch when you and Karla had 3 young ones of your own.
It's a rare and beautiful thing when you get to meet someone like you, Mike. Your heart - so warm, generous, kind.
We have planted a native Australian plant in our garden to remember you by. You are always with us, your friends, your family.
Much love, always, Jo and Luke.

My sincere condolences to the McGrath family.

I wish I had reconnected with Michael many years back, as I’m a amateur synth fan... I’d have loved to have asked him for help and advice.

Peace be with Michael’s family, extended family, and close friends.

Mike changed my life, through his work and support he literally put me in a better place, he was incredibly kind, warm and had a rationality about him under pressure that I have never since come across. It in no way feels fair to have him leave the world so soon and he will be surely missed by an enormous amount of people. He truly made a deep and lasting impact on the world.

Blessings. I've known Mike for many years since the early MuffWiggler days, although I'd never met him personally. We share the same birthday, although I'm a year older. Mike taught me that grace and wisdom doesn't just come from your elders. I'll sure miss him.

Wow! I'm sorry. Mike and I occasionally chatted on a music forum and the chat room attached to it. Lots of fun hours, back in the early/mid 2000s. I hope this message is another miniscule comfort for his family and remember the truest saying of all: This too shall pass! Best wishes to "Auto-Wah, Canada" ((c) Mike Mc Grath).
