Passed away peacefully at home at the age of 63 on December 4th 2020. Predeceased by his wife Renée, as well as his parents, Alexander and Edith.  David will be remembered for his kind nature and putting others before all else. Whether it was throughout his fulfilling career of over 30 years at Finance and the Treasury Board, being a best friend and go-to handyman to all his friends and neighbours, or caring for his family, he was devoted to giving of himself and bringing joy to those around him. David leaves behind his adoring daughter, Alexandra, his sister Debbie (Todd), his mother-in-law Pat (Dewar), nieces and nephews (Briena, Brooke, and Danny), and many loving friends.  Due to the restrictions of COVID-19, a private service will be held for close family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a cause near and dear to David, the Canadian Cancer Society.

I really sympathise with all. However, my deepest sympathy goes out to his daughter... I hope she’s well surrounded.

We are all fortunate to have known him, worked with him and befriended him. He was a good, fun, interesting and resourceful person it’s true. We all have our particular or fond moments with him which we’ll cherish in our memories.

May he Rest In Peace

After reading through the many condolences, it seems apparent that Dave was not just my best buddy. He was many people's best friend, and there was enough of his big heart to share amongst us. My trips back to Ottawa will never be the same event to look forward to. Dave and Renée always welcomed my visits, even in her closing days. Ally, you are so blessed to have such great parents. Their memories will stay with me forever.

So sad to hear this bad news. I worked with Dave for quite a few years, he was more than an excellent manager, he was a great co-worker (always up for a good gossip). My heartfelt condolences to Alexandra and Debbie.

Our hearts are truly broken from the loss of a dear friend and “uncle” who shared a birthday with the girls, foregoing his own 40th bash to drive to NYC with Renee, Al and Pat to be with us when the triplets were born. Feel blessed to have known such a truly selfless loving generous man. Our most sincere condolences go out to Alexandra, Renee and Dave’s beautiful daughter, Pat and Fairweather family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with you ❤️?

I was very saddened to hear of David's passing. I was fortunate enough to meet him early in my career at Finance Canada. We worked indirectly with each other over a span of about 25 years at Finance and TBS. He was always pleasant, funny and a genuinely wonderful person. My sincere condolences to his family.

Dear Al, Pat and family.
Mes plus sincères condoléance à toute la famille et amis.
Al, your dad loved you to the moon and back, in his eyes you did no wrong!

I had the privilege of working with David for 12 years at TBS, but also very lucky to live in the same »hood » as he would say.
His drop in visits while on a bike ride was always a welcomed surprise for Gordie and I. The bike would be parked in the garage and over a cold beverage the stories would start...followed by belly laughs and sometimes tears.
All who knew him well, will have something built or repaired by Dave’s hands in their home, he was an intelligent and generous man with a big heart.

I will miss him dearly, rest in piece my friend!

Love you so much Uncle Dave, now and always. I know you're up there smiling down at us, and I know when the sun will shine that it will be you who told it to. Thank you Uncle Dave.

Our sincere condolences to Pat, Alley and the Fairweather family. In your saddest days you have wonderful memories. We never met Dave , but all the kind things Pat said about him was echoed by his friends. RIP
