I worked with Randy at QNX from 1996-2005, and kept in touch with him through various forms of social media. He was a unique combination of intelligence, humour and interesting social/world observation. Was so, so saddened to hear of his sudden passing. Sending my deepest condolences to his family, his friends, his colleagues and everyone he crossed paths with...

Condolences to your family! We will really miss Randy. He was the last of the eclectic guys. Always had an opinion to add and fundamentally a really good caring guy. Will miss the Randy smile that said something good was about to happen.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Hughes and Kevin,
I worked and traveled with Randy. I watched him demonstrate that business is about people in the way that he looked after clients and co-workers. My personal experience of him was that of a funny, sometimes shocking, insightful, intelligent, generous, and gentle man who observed and experienced the world from a unique perspective. I learned a lot from him about business and about life. Thank you, Randy.

Such a huge hole has been left in so many hearts. Randy was larger than life in so many ways, brilliant mind, entertaining to be with, dedicated to his family.
To Paul and Doreen, Kevin and Cathy, Adam and Brett and Randy’s extended family…we are grieving with you and for you. The years that my kids and I spent as part of your family are held dear in our hearts.
Rest in peace, Randy.
Gareth

Randolph:
For years, we were joined at the hip. Too many to count great times with you and the fam on Meadowlark, skiing in Vermont mit Oma und Opa, Saturdays with the boys at the shop for Uncle Walt, A-Bay, Thursday nights at Equinox, that infamous trip to Windsor, passing x-country skiers on the river trails in the Lada, Muskoka with the boys.....
PT and Doreen: Randy loved you both unconditionally and ALWAYS referred to times with you with such joy and respect. I wish I could be on Roxdale with you at this time.
Kevin: your fun-loving relationship with your bro set a standard for family that the vast majority of brothers never attain. As you know, Randy also loved you unconditionally.
Dude, no doubt you’re up there right now with Mac. We all miss you; our collective hearts are heavy but knowing that we will see you again lightens that load ever so slightly. You are and will always be in my family’s prayers.
We love you bud!

To Randy's family, I am truly sorry.
I can't quite articulate what I admired most about Randy - he was extremely engaging, witty, and interesting. Although our times at Chipworks never overlapped I felt like I had known him a long time. We shared a love of stand-up comedy and I always enjoyed his recommendations.
Thanks for all the laughs. See you on the other side, my friend.
Randy will be greatly missed. His sense of humour, kind demeanor, and intellectually driven mind have left a positive impact on those who have had the honour of knowing him. My mother was close with Randy, viewing him like a brother to her, and has been constantly supportive of my own endeavors in academics and creative arts. I will greatly miss his wits, and his positive attitude.
