It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, niece, aunt, cousin and friend.
Wendy Hanley at the age of 78 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sunday January 5, 2025.
She was a courageous, strong, beautiful person always seeing the best in people with her unwavering positive outlook. It was incredible how she loved life and the beauty in the world.
She will be deeply missed by her daughters Katie Hodgins, Lesley DeFranco (Joe) and step-daughter Kim Paterson (lan). She was a beloved Granny to Marino (Vanessa), Amero (Emma), Samantha, Bella and Grandma to Mackenzie and Madeline. Wendy was the cherished sister of Sue Gare (Ron) and Mike Hanley (Cynthia); and niece of Lois Forsythe. She will be lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gary Switzer, mother Isabella Hanley and her best friend of 66 years, Helene Cinnamon.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life on Saturday, January 25th, 2025, from 9am to 12pm at Beechwood Cemetery located at 280 Beechwood Ave., Ottawa, ON. Internment to take place, at a later date.
