It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Capt. (Retired) Bruce Cameron Gordon, known affectionately as ‘Moose’. Bruce left us too early and passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep at his home in Constance Bay on August 31, 2022.

Bruce was born November 10, 1962, in Lachine to the late Ian and Florence Gordon (nee Cameron). He grew up in Kingston where he completed his high school education at Loyalist Collegiate Vocational Institute and graduated in 1985 from the Royal Military College as an engineer. Bruce served in both the Navy and the Air Force from 1981 to 1993.  He was a brilliant Systems Integrator and worked many successful projects both within the Air Force and in the industry.

He loved nature passionately and found solace in the outdoors. He was a kind and gentle soul. During his lifetime, he supported numerous nature conservancies, animal welfare organisations, and charity organisations within his community, city, and nation-wide.

Bruce is survived by his sister Dr. Jan Gordon (Garry Walker) of Ottawa, nieces Jarra Walker of Montreal, Hope Walker (Jim Douglas) of Vancouver, Erin Walker (Stephen Kemp) of London, UK, nephew Jaime Walker (Ginette Walker) of Ottawa, great nephew James Douglas, and great niece Erin Violet Douglas. He will also be missed by Biana, her son Martin, and his family, Martine, Boyan and Kalina. Bruce’s constant four-legged companion Hopie is lost without him. From all of us Bruce, may peace and light be upon your soul!

A Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, his family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Liver Foundation, Ottawa Riverkeeper, Rideau Valley Wildlife Sanctuary, Ottawa and Gatineau Humane societies, or any charity of choice.

Over the many years since highschool, a small group of my girlfriends and I , having lost touch with Moose, often fondly reminisced about our Calvin Park and L.C. Days , the small “ gangs” of kids and weird ,little clubs we formed . Moose was a big part of those happy recollections. May his friends and family find love and peace amidst their sorrow. I am going to miss his chats on line and our occasional lunches with beers. He was passionate about our work with the navy and air force electronic support projects as he was with everything in which he got involved.
