David Norris Springer of Ottawa, Ontario suddenly passed away peacefully at 84 years of age on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at the Montfort Hospital. Devoted husband for 61 years to Anita (Brown) Springer. Beloved father of David Springer and Anne (Springer) Pepperdine. The best father-in-law to Barb Kennedy and Terry Pepperdine. Most loving and caring Grandpa/Papa. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Kyra, Kyle and Jordan Springer and Nicholas and Sarah Pepperdine. Dave joined the Royal Canadian Navy on August 8, 1955 just shy of his 18th birthday. He was a southern Ontario boy who always wanted to join the navy. He loved his time at sea serving on the HMCS’s Resolute, Stadacona, Shearwater, Bonaventure, Fraser, Annapolis and Assiniboine. Dave served in various roles in the Canadian Armed Forces, achieving the rank of CWO while posted in CFB Trenton until finally taking his commission to Captain before retiring from the Forces in Ottawa in June of 1984. He continued to work for the Department of National Defense in the Civil Service until his retirement at the age of 73.
His memory will be forever treasured by his family, who give thanks for his patience, dry humour, wisdom, and everlasting love. Always a kind and gentle man.
