It is with terrible sadness that we announce the passing of Minnie May Power, 76 years old. She passed away peacefully in Ottawa, Ontario on July 30, 2021.
She was born to the late Priscilla and Chesley Parsons, May 8, 1945, in Hooping Harbour, Newfoundland & Labrador.
She married the late William Joseph Power in 1966. Minnie is survived by three children: Jackie Power (spouse Guy Hurtubise), of Deux Montagnes, Quebec; Kathleen Lacroix (spouse Pierre Lacroix), of Kamloops, BC; and Leona Lortie (spouse Yves Lortie), of Ottawa, ON. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Suzanna, Jessica, Mathieu, Simone, Keisha, Zacharie and Justin and one great-grandchild, Olivia. Minnie is survived by her seven siblings: Triffie Marcus, Millicent Tucker, Gayla Terpstra, Barbara Parsons, Garfield Parsons, John Parsons and Barry Parsons. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Verna and Bessie.
Minnie was a woman like no other with a huge heart and an infectious laugh who always helped those around her. She loved her children immensely and was so proud of them and leaves behind an abundance of beautiful memories. Everyone that knew her adored her, and she will be forever missed.
The family requests that people make donations in support of research, in lieu of sending flowers, to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
