It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Gary Wilfred Jamieson announces his sudden passing at home on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at the age of 65. Gary was pre-deceased by his parents Jean and Lloyd, brother Don and brother-in-law Louis. He will be fondly remembered and profoundly missed by his brothers and sisters: Carol (Louis Cholette, decd), Doug (Charlotte), David (Connie), Joanne (Randy), Kevin (Sue), and Jody (Jojo), his many nieces and nephews, and the friends he made during his long career with the Ottawa Citizen. Gary will also be sadly missed by his closest friends Ken Versavel, Phil Baldwin and Nancy Campbell who we are very grateful that he had in his life. He is remembered as a quiet but kind person with a unique sense of humour, always up for a good laugh and that above all else, enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. We take solace in knowing he is resting in peace with Mom, Dad and our brothers in heaven. He will forever be in our hearts, thoughts and memories. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date. In memory of Gary, in lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to the Canadian Celiac Association.

Uncle Gary you are another one of the good ones taken to soon from our family. I hope you and my dad will be following hockey together. You will never be forgotten.

Uncle Gary,
I still can't believe I am writing this. I want you to know that my childhood days were filled with much joy and happiness because of you. I will miss your laughter at family gatherings, your endless kindness, and how you were always there and willing to help, like taking me apartment hunting when I got old enough to move out of home. Gone far too soon but forever here, cherished in our memories. We will always hold you dear in our hearts.

My condolences to the Jamieson family and Gary's friends. Gary was a kind and caring friend to all of his ''at the Bench'' friends. We will definitely miss his company and his wonderful boxing day gatherings.

I worked with Gary at the Ottawa Citizen for a number of years. He was a lot of fun and had a wicked sense of humour. He was also very kind and even though we lost touch for awhile, we reconnected on Facebook and every year without fail he made generous donations to the charity I was involved with. A big heart. I'll miss him.
