Written by Lynne Thompson & Jeff Thompson (mom and dad)

Today we write about mental health.

We are parents of one amazing child, but we were gifted with having two.  For those who don't know, we gave birth to a absolutely gorgeous girl who held our hearts in her hands. Later in life she came to us as a young adult and told us she had never been comfortable about her body and how he felt inside.

we made sure we had the best of the best therapists and doctors, who then gave us our very handsome, intelligent, beautiful son.

No matter what, our love was unconditional love and would always be there to keep him safe.

During these times of lockdown and social distancing it took a tole on his mental health and we missed the signs, or he just hid them that well.  Alex took himself on a walk not to return for us to hold again.

So, during these times, please in memory of Sarah Anne Thompson or Alexander Wayne Thompson our one and only child.  Speak up, get help.

Hold your loved one tighter and always say I love you no matter the event.

Due to the restrictions put in place by COVID-19, a private family gathering will be held at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services. A larger Celebration of Life will be held in Alexander's memory at a later date. For those who wish to make a donation in lieu of flowers, please do so towards the Kids Helpline, Ottawa.

Alex was a great person, though I didn't get to know well , did always enjoy our talks.
I was hoping we would ride together this summer.
Rest in Peace my friend, love always, xo

My Dearest Lynn,
You haven’t left my thoughts since hearing this tragic news. What you have written is so very elegantly said. A mother’s unconditional love for her child. May Alex be at peace and have a safe trip home. Sending prayers and condolences to you and your family during this difficult time. Love you ?

My deepest condolences. Alex was such a good and kind soul. He was very much a support to me during difficult times and we shared a love for nature and hiking. I will be honoring his memory on every hike I go on!

Gonna miss you Lex!!!

I can't, I don't even want to try to, imagine the depth of your grief. to say I'm sorry seems just too little, too small, there is no comfort in it. I liked Alex, and though him a fine young man. I hope one day we can celebrate his life, and leave you with positive memories that will keep him in your heart and mind always. As you wrote, he was loved unconditionally, that will not cease. We, your friends, are here should you need or want anything, our shoulders, to cry on, our ears, to listen, and our hearts are open for you.

My sweet Alex, oh how I will miss you.
I will miss your hugs, your smile, your silly jokes, your big heart. I met you 6yrs ago working at the buzz kitchen, you became my work husband and a very good friend to me. To Lynne and Jeff thank you for giving us such a beautiful soul to love. I will never forget him, my deepest condolences.

We are so sad for your lost. We remember Sarah  ( Alex)  in pigtails  and scuffed  up knees  to a beautiful  young adolescent. Mental health  is real and with this world we are in  ( isolation) is not the way to go. Our thoughts  are with you both.
