Passed away peacefully at the age of 74 with her family by her side. Predeceased by her parents, Valére and Marie-Louise Verfaillie (nee Réberé), former husbands Kenneth Cowie and Jean-Denis Perrier along with niece Kathleen Wels.
Anita leaves behind her loving children Corine Louise Porter (Charles) and Craig George Cowie (Diane). She will be dearly missed by her precious grandchildren; Adrian Craig Porter (Amy Herbert Porter), Jacob Charles Porter (Alyssa Sigman), Spencer Kenneth Cowie. Also by her beautiful great-grandchildren; Hannah Marie Porter, Keira Louise Porter, and Cameron Kenneth Porter.
She will be fondly remembered by her loving sister Rita Wels and dear brother-in-law Carl Wels. Also by her nieces and nephews, to whom she is affectionately known as “Auntie Teeta”; nephews Ron (Margaret) Wels and Derek Wels (Laurie), and great-nieces Stephanie, Meghan, Natalie, Erin and Sarah Wels.
Anita ‘s life was full of love and she was honoured to be loved by the Marcotte family including Adam Marcotte (Toni Zeni), Kim Marcotte Little (Dave), Monique Marcotte (Shawn Rose).
She is also remembered by her Scottish nieces and nephews; Danielle Townes-Jones, Kenneth Moorcroft-Jones, and Peter Jones. Also her Belgian cousins; Karine Devis, Dirk Hennebel and Jesfien Hennebel and their loving families.
The family would like to thank Anita’s dearest friends; Diane Guest, Rose Morris, Ruth Porter (Jim Lynch), Kimberly Porter, Jean-Pierre Perrier, and Kim Laverty-Blanchette.
Anita shared the last 3 years with the incredible staff and residents at Elmsmere Villa Retirement Residence where she made so many friends whom she loved dearly. The family would like to thank them all for making her home there full of love and joy.
Due to COVID-19, a private family service will take place at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Ave, Ottawa, ON).
