Peacefully and with grace, our dearest Mom, Gramma/Gran passed away in her 102nd year. She was predeceased by the love of her life of almost 60 years, husband Donald Thompson. She will be greatly missed by many including her children, Donald Jr. (Audrey), Rodney (Heather), Faith (Dick ), Meredith (Alan), Merrillee, Gaye (Mark), Nancy (Troy), Jeff (Susan), Christine (Norman) and Joyce (Nick), sisters Elsie, Irene and brother Wesley. She was predeceased by her son Carter (Sandra) and daughter Susan, as well as siblings, Maisie, Dorothy, Yvonne, Maurice, John and Clarence.
Although Dimples was born in North Bay, she and her family settled in Ottawa. It was here that she met and married Donald Sr. and where they built their home in the community of Overbrook. They had an open-door policy for all, with the tea kettle always on.
Emma was a strong, independent woman, with a real zest for life. She was a loving wife and wonderful mother to twelve children, grandmother to twenty-one, great-grandmother to twenty-eight, and great great-grandmother to three.
The family wishes to express their deep gratitude for the wonderful care she received at Renfrew Hospice.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private celebration of life with family will take place at Beechwood Cemetery. Condolences and tributes may be left at www.beechwoodottawa.ca .
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider a donation in memory of Emma to the Canadian Cancer Society, or Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.
