On Friday, January 10th, 2020, loving husband and father of 6 children, passed away peacefully at the age of 85. Garry was born June 21st, 1934 in Ottawa, Ontario. Son of the late Richard Hewitt and Annie Duffey. Garry worked his way up the ladder with Canada Post where he subsequently met Rochelle around 1967. He made Canada Post his career and was a dedicated “Postie” for over 35 years.
Being an avid car guy, Garry enjoyed buying/selling cars throughout his life. He was happiest admiring a car that he had just purchased, cleaned, and detailed himself in the driveway. He loved the outdoors, be it camping, various road trips or just getting away. He especially enjoyed his winter hibernations in Bermuda or Florida.
Garry was preceded in death by his father, Richard Hewitt, his mother Annie Duffey, his wife Rochelle (née Eve), his daughter Lori (Heath), his sister Audrey (Schryer), and brothers Alan and Ralph. Garry is survived by his children, Lynne Morton (Neil), Lee Edgar (Darren), Larry (Verena), Richard, Kurtis and sister Jean (Meabry), his 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 6 great great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery, and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, on Monday, February 3rd from 1:00PM until the time of a Service at 2:00PM. Interment and reception will follow. Please join us to Celebrate Garry’s life and to maybe share a story or two.

Lynne, Lee, Larry and extended family. It is with a heavy heart that we learned about the passing of your father. He was a wonderful father and grandfather of many. He will be surely missed but will always be with you in your hearts. Cherish the memories. Love, Mary and family
Garry was like a second father. I always felt like family when I would visit. There were many a Tuesday night spent with Kurt, Rich, Garry, Eric and Mike watching movies in the basement. Garry loved to talk about the crazy good deals he would get on all kinds of electronics from Future Shop. He will be missed deeply.
