Peacefully at home on May 21, 2022, at the age of 79.
Bob leaves behind his loving wife Anne of 55 years, and his two children Tom and Jennifer (Steve). He will be deeply missed by his four grandsons Max, Tomas, Charlie, and Preston. Uncle Bobby will be lovingly remembered by his niece Lynn (Terry) and many great nephews and nieces. He will be fondly remembered by his extended family of cousins and family friends.
Predeceased by his parents Beatrice Schenkel (Preiss) and Sylvester Schenkel, and his beloved sister Shirley Schenkel (Hamdorf) and nephew David Hamdorf.
Bob was born in Kitchener, Ontario, on September 12, 1942. Bob was an old-fashioned, hardworking family man. He believed in saving for rainy days, helping others through quiet acts of kindness, and never taking things for granted. He was a devoted father and proud grandfather. Bob will be remembered for his easy laugh and kind smile.
An avid reader, Bob had a curious mind and loved discussing current events. After his retirement from a successful career with the federal government, Bob enjoyed long walks in the community and cooking. An enthusiastic sports fan, Bob loved to cheer on his favorite teams with a cold diet cola in hand.
He was also a skilled card player and could often be found playing games of Solo into the wee hours with his sister Shirley and brother-in-law Bob. A true animal lover, he cherished the companionship of many cats over the years, most recently his beloved tabby Benji.
Thank you for the memories. Thank you for loving us.
