Maria Leonor Barcelos (née Bettencourt) passed away on February 24, 2020 at the age of 97 with her loving family by her side.
Born on November 24, 1922 in Beira, São Jorge, Açores she was the daughter of the late Maria de Sousa Bettencourt and Francisco Silveira Bettencourt.
Maria Leonor was predeceased by her loving husband of 39 years, Vital Soares Barcelos, and her siblings Mariana, Alberto, Rosa, Artur, José, Filipe, Noemia and Jorge.
She was a loving mother to her three daughters Adelina Roma (Joaquim), Margarida Barcelos (Paul Lagroix), and Maria Elsa Dinis (José). She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Elsa Da Costa (Robert Bellizzi), Josianne Roma (Mark Reardon), Derek Dinis and Valerie Dinis (Waël Athimni); and her great-grandchildren Isaac and Nora Bellizzi, Zara Reardon, and Vital and Maverick Dinis.
Maria Leonor will be eternally remembered by her many nieces and nephews, and close friends who mourn her passing.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Sunday, March 1st, 2020 at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Ave) from 4-8pm. A funeral service in memory of Maria Leonor will be held on Monday, March 2nd, 2020 at Paroquia Senhor Santo Cristo Parish (1100 Kenaston St, Gloucester) at 11am. Burial service and reception will follow at the Beechwood Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Montfort Hospital Foundation to honor her memory.
