Peacefully in his sleep at Ottawa General Hospital in his 97th year. Predeceased by his loving wife Barbara, Lloyd will be greatly missed by his daughter Wendy, granddaughter Alana, sister Doris, together with nieces and nephews, their children, and by friends from 410 Wing of the  Royal Canadian Airforce Association.

Lloyd was born in Amabel Township, Bruce County where the family returned following several years living in the United States.  They farmed near Elsinore, living in a house he helped his father build, until he joined the Royal Canadian Airforce in 1941.  After two tours of service in North Africa and Europe he was demobbed and attended the University of Toronto, School of Architecture.  He married Barbara and they moved to Timmins, Ontario where he worked part time for an architect and taught highschool.

When Canada became a participant in the Korean War, Lloyd rejoined the Royal Canadian Airforce, continued flying, and teaching others to fly, retiring in 1969.  Lloyd then enrolled at the University of Ottawa to complete his BA, then went to Kingston to gain a teaching certificate. He taught at Nepean and Commerce in Ottawa, retiring for a second time in 1986.

Lloyd loved anything that had an engine - planes, cars, even lawnmowers.  He and Barb loved their many car trips through the US, and were particularly fond of New Orleans, especially the fresh seafood.  They made several trips to Britain, sometimes on their own,  and enjoyed touring the UK with friends from the (now defunct) Canadian Fighter Pilots' Association and from 410 Wing of the Royal Canadian Airforce Association.  After losing Barb, he treated Wendy and Alana to several trips, including Alaska, and together we celebrated his 90th birthday near to a posting he had in the 1950s in England.   He enjoyed the conviviality of his fellow members of 410 Wing and continued to meet friends for TGIF up to the end of 2019.  The family thanks Dr Fawzi Mankel, FP, and the staff of the Ottawa General Hospital for their care of Lloyd.

A celebration of Lloyd's life will take place at a future date.

I have fond memories of visits with Wendy and her parents, and then Wendy and her Dad after her Mother passed. Both are missed and will always be remembered.
