Jack passed away peacefully on May 24, 2019 in hospital at the age of 94 after a pretty good fight against the process of simply getting old. Jack is pre-deceased by his wife of sixty three years Joan (nee Connery). He is survived by his son David, daughter-in-law Wendy, and cherished granddaughters Laura and Carolyn. A graduate of Queen’s University engineering faculty, he had a long and interesting career as a research scientist with the National Research Council of Canada. Jack was a long-time member of the United Church and an active volunteer. A service in celebration of Jack’s life will be held at Carleton Memorial United Church, 740 Melfa Crescent, Ottawa, on Friday June 7th at 11:00 AM. Interment at Beachwood Cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice, in Jack’s name, would be appreciated.
Jack was one of my mentors when I arrived at NRC Radio Division in 1949. He was a joy to work with. He was noted for his imaginative, Rube Goldberg designs.
