Howard Robert Jamieson, a cancer survivor until May 30, 2021, a musician at heart and unsung composer successfully made the transition from the living without revealing what he has encountered since to those who remain breathing.  Howard slipped away peacefully with his wife and daughter by his side, accompanied by his own music as he climbed the stairway to heaven.

Certainly, it was not easy to abandon his lifetime loves, a wonderful collection of guitars, concerned that after his death his wife/partner/lover/caregiver of 41 years Susan (nee Sutton) might discover what he really paid for them.

Susan exploded into Howard’s universe while he was playing in Hillbilly Bands.  Performing fulltime mixed with an 8 to 5 job soon led to a glorious flameout.  Music was “Rip Van Winkled” for a quarter century.  During that sleep, Susan, and to a lesser degree Howard gave birth to a daughter, Amanda.  Howard worked hard and created from rubble a reputable appliance repair company which would help re-fuel and financially support his music addiction.

When lassie Amanda decided to spread her wings, it was not long with “Dad” out of the picture that she married her husband to this day, Tyler Agnew. Together, they began rearing the world's greatest grandkids.  Be well assured, Grumpaloo is missing William and Brayden immensely.

The family patriarchs, Edward “Ted” and Doris (nee Haché) soldier on, undeterred, hand in hand.  Fruits of their labours in chronological order: Heather, Edward (Linda), Mary (Ken), and Leslie all agree that someone had to be first, and that the fourth born drew the short straw.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Community Palliative Medicine Associates, especially Dr. Hacker and Dr Bright.  A special thank you also goes to the nurses from St. Elizabeth Health Care for their wonderful care and support.

Howard made one final parting request: Cancer affects 1 out of 2 Canadians in their lifetime.  He benefited from the many donations to cancer research made before he became a patient himself.  Howard asks that you pay it forward and make a donation to Cancer Research in his memory.

I didn't know Howard (Howie) very well. But after seeing him at parties with his wife Susan, I instantly liked him. I always wanted to see him play at Lorenzo's on Richmond Road, but never got the chance. My thoughts are with Susan and his daughter Amanda. He will always be in your hearts! xo
