It’s with great sadness that the family of Gary Younghusband announce his sudden passing on 24 February 2021. Predeceased by his parents Charles and Alicia (nee Cowan) Younghusband, and step-mother Theresa Younghusband (nee Carriere).
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Lois (nee Elliott), their children Wayne (Myong), Kimberley (Carl), Jill (Brian) and Alan (Margaret). Lovingly remembered by grandchildren Emily, Liam, Madeleine, Evelyn and Jack, brothers Wayne (Katherine), Keith (Lynn), sister Anne (Bob), best friend Bob Liberty (Elizabeth) and many wonderful friends.
After 35 years of service and a number of postings with the Canadian Army, Gary and Lois retired to Cobden Ontario, where they became active members of the local CIVITAN Club and in recent years enjoyed wintering in Destin, Florida. Known for enjoying a good laugh, Gary loved a good time and truly enjoyed the company of family and friends.
Cremation has taken place. An interment is planned to be held in the National Military Cemetery located at Beechwood Cemetery at a later date. Donations in Gary’s memory can be made to www.hospicerenfrew.ca or a charity of your choice. Thank you to all who have supported our family and expressed their sympathies in this most difficult time. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Lois and family,
We were shocked and deeply saddened to get the call from a distraught Ashley the day Gary died. We will miss him and we will miss his impish emails and Tom will miss his unsavoury jokes (Gary weeded those types out from my email address!). We've enjoyed the four years we've had the pleasure of getting to know you both since our daughter moved in next door. Our hearts are with you all. There is no easy way to lose a mate or a parent - I've lost a father without warning and watched a mother slowly go - so know we understand the shock and pain. Stay together and stay close. We will see you all in June and July.
Sicnerely and with our love,
Dale and Tom

My condolences to the Younghusband Family. Gary mentored me to become the best Army Clerk that I could be. It was truly an honour to have worked with him. Rest In Peace my friend.

Wayne and Kit, I was so sorry to read of Gary's passing. I remember him from being in some of the same classes at Broadview... particularly when he sat next to me in Mr. Park's grade 7 homeroom. I thought he was a nice boy. The many comments I have read here bear that out. My condolences to you and all the family.

We were deeply saddened to learn of Gary’s passing. Our condolences to the family. We very much enjoyed Lois and Gary’s company at Wright Patterson. Never forget the Canadian receptions.
Gary and I first crossed paths in Edmonton whilst serving with 450 Squadron and remained in touch and good friends through out our careers. I'll miss his jokes and pot stirring plus the antics known to all . I arrived in 450 Sqn in a Queen's Own Rifles uniform and up to the end heard "Black Puddy jokes", So you can imagine the look on his face when he visited me in Kingston Recruiting Center wearing a Blue Uniform. I could fill this page with stories about a great friend but I'll close sending my Deepest Sympathies to another Dear Friend Lois and of course to their beautiful family.......
