PROPHETESS EMMA AMA ASANTEWAA (1933-2022)

The heavens have gained a beautiful Angel. The Lord God Almighty called Prophetess Emma Asantewaa home peacefully on July 30, 2022 surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Maame loved God, His presence, and God’s people. She enjoyed life, cooking, hospitality, music, and Church. She had a good life and was well-celebrated. She was one of two children born to her parents Adwoa Manu and Yaw Konadu, and was orphaned at age 4. Growing up, Maame was taken very good care of by her grandmother and her loving Ghanaian extended family. As she was in transition, friends and loved ones began to share with the family the miracles and answers to prayers they received from God as Maame prayed with them and impacted their lives.

In Canada, she was worshipping at both Transforming Life Centre (TLC) Ottawa and TLC Toronto. When on vacation in Ghana, she attended The Church of Pentecost in Teshie. Her favourite part of Church was praise and worship, along with singing, dancing, giving, and doing good.

Maame was a kind-hearted person who loved and cared deeply about people. At home she enjoyed gardening, and had a love for the arts and the musical performances of the Harmonious Chorale, Joe Mettle and Diana Hamilton. She was a good cook and her favourite food was fufu and light soup. She loved to travel, and some of her accumulated destinations included Israel, several towns in Ghana, cities in the U.S., Canada, and London, UK. Through her generous spirit, Maame always visited her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with gifts upon her return.

One of her favourite quotes was:

“One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple.” Psalm 27:4

Maame was preceded in death by her husband Peter Dartey and her only brother Eddie Agyeman. She was survived by her 6 children, 30 Grandchildren and 52 Great Grandchildren.

Rest in peace, Maame. You will forever be in our hearts.
