It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Diana Catherine Binks-Proulx on Monday, June 13, 2022 at the age of 71.
Beloved daughter of the late John Stuart Binks and the late Nancy Elizabeth Binks (nee Hughson). Cherished mum of Jason Proulx (Jennifer) and Granny to her ‘baby girl’ Maryn. Predeceased by her sister Janie and survived by her brothers Harry and Geoffrey. Auntie Di to Samantha (Adam), John (Raphaelle), Geoffrey (Heather), Erin, Lauren (Jordan), and Allison, and great aunt to her many grand nieces and nephews.
Diana’s early career was with the University of Ottawa, she then worked for many years with Binks Insurance, and was awarded the designation of Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker. Diana was strong and independent, with a sharp wit. She was known for her deep knowledge of her family history and she lovingly maintained incredible photos and artifacts of past beloved generations. She loved to talk politics, enjoyed Agatha Christie mysteries, knitting, and old black and white films. Diana was a loyal friend with deep connections from coast to coast and across the border. She treasured her time at Danford Lake, and always looked forward to heading North and seeing dear cottage friends. Diana spent many years skiing at Mont Ste Marie, a love that she passed on to Jason and Maryn.
A Memorial Reception for family and friends will be held on Friday, July 15th from 2:30p.m. to 4:30p.m. at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services.
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
