Ardell Bly Pehrsson       G. Marilyn Pehrsson

        1936-2020                       1935-2020

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ardell (Dell) Pehrsson and Marilyn Pehrsson (nee Brazell) on March 28 and 30, 2020 in Ottawa.

Marilyn and Dell, devoted to each other, were beloved parents to Sally (Robert) and Pauline (Allan); proud Nana and Papa to Brendan, Devin and Gavin; and cherished sister and brother-in-law to Barbara Phillips of Bury St. Edmunds, England. Also, a loving aunt and uncle to Isabel, Peter (Clare), Clare, Owen, Derek and Lorna (Stephen) of England and Wales, and sister- and brother-in-law to Cheryl Brazell

Dell was born on September 8, 1936 in Turtleford, Saskatchewan and was predeceased by his parents, Gerald Pehrsson and Florence Mosbeck,.  and his brother Lewell. He graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan and served in the Royal Canadian Air Force, before joining the Federal Government in the Patent Office.

Marilyn was born December 10, 1935 in Llanelli, Wales and was predeceased by her mother Jenny, father Maldwyn, and brother Hugh.  Marilyn worked much of her career in administration at the National Research Council and was also a proud employee of the Canadian Space Agency for many years.

Marilyn and Dell were married in Ottawa in 1963 and enjoyed many wonderful years together. They were blessed with a large group of close friends, and enthusiastically pursued activities including tennis, golf and travelling. Dell enjoyed woodworking and he also made and flew radio-controlled model aircraft that thrilled his grandsons. Marilyn loved outings with friends and family, walks by the river and cross-stitch.

Special thanks to the staff of the Montfort Hospital’s Sixth floor and Intensive Care Unit for their care and help at this incredibly difficult time.  Cremation and a private interment will take place at Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa.  A joint Celebration of Life will be held at Beechwood at a later date, with details to be forthcoming.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Care Canada or to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Garry and Daryl Lindberg

We were very sorry to learn of your losses. To lose both parents at the same time is quite a blow.
I had the good fortune to work with Marilyn at the Teleoperator project office. We were establishing the office to manage "Canadarm" at NRC and had openings. We were fortunate that Marilyn decided to re-enter the work force and agreed to join the office. She was a great addition and worked well with all of us. The office was small and enjoyed social gatherings and so Daryl and I go to know Dell as well. They were such a happy couple.
After 1979, I changed jobs and so there was no more daily contact. But we did see each other over the years. The last time we met them was at a New Years Eve dinner dance at the National Arts Centre some years ago and we enjoyed catching up .

Our thoughts are with you all during this very difficult time.
