John Gillingham, 67, of Ottawa, Ontario passed away on November 20, 2022, surrounded by family. John was born to Angus Gillingham and Jean Gillingham on March 9, 1955. He graduated from General William Mitchell High School in Colorado Springs in 1973. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Physics from McGill in 1977 and a Bachelor of Engineering from Carleton University in 1987. While working at Bowmar in Ottawa, he met his wife, Vanda. They have one daughter, Elizabeth (Rory) and two beloved grandchildren, Kieran and Connor. John will be deeply missed by many family and friends – his wife, his brother Peter (Takako), his nephews Akira (Arianna), Seiji, and Kazuto. John was known for his love of cycling, as an audiophile, and as a human encyclopaedia of airplane identification. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 3rd, 2022 at 1pm at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Service (280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa, ON).
