It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lana Gattinger. Daughter of Isabel (née Maurer) and Richard Gattinger. Sister of Monica and aunt to Cameron (Susanna) and Gabriel. Predeceased by sister Loni in 2001.
Lana was born in Ottawa and grew up in the Beacon Hill North community where she went to elementary and high school. She attended the University of Ottawa earning a Bachelor of Administration and an Honours Bachelor of Commerce. She graduated summa cum laude and was awarded the University of Ottawa Gold Medal for receiving the highest grades of her graduating class. Following this she started a career at the Bank of Canada in finance.
Lana was recognized as being a good friend, caring sister and aunt, and a loving daughter. Her detailed memory of family stories and experiences is irreplaceable. She was unwaveringly kind, supportive, generous, accepting and forgiving of those around her.
Lana cherished her dogs, Tosha and Bisou, and was a devoted pet mom to both of them throughout their lives. She also enjoyed reading and travelling with family and friends.
She is missed.
A private family service will be held at a later date. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Ottawa Humane Society (ottawahumane.ca)

Dick (and Isabel),
I was so sad to read in yesterday's Citizen that your daughter had died. Although you and I have not communicated in years, we had worked together on some great space projects and (in my mind) had a professional friendship. Again, my condolences. Lana seems to have had a too-brief, but still good career. It's what we DO with our brief time in this world, and the love that we share, that matters the most.
