Dr. Arnold (Arnie) Newton died suddenly at home on September 19, 2022 leaving behind his wife of 50 years, Marie Newton (Anderson). Arnie was the proud father of Dr. Jennifer Charbonneau (Stephane), Dr. Allison Newton-Moore (Janine), Mark Newton (Ali), and Adam Newton (Lindsay). Loving grandfather to Matthew, Madeleine, and Luc Charbonneau; Caleb and Lachlan Moore; Georgia and Beckett Newton; and Gwen and Lucy Newton.
Arnie is survived by his brother Lionel Newton (Petra), and sister Rochelle Dennis (Paul). He will be missed by his nieces and nephews and large extended family.
Arnie graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1973 as a Doctor of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He practiced for 30 years at York County Hospital (now The Southlake Medical Centre) and then moved to Ottawa where he continued to practice medicine right to the end.
Arnie was proud of his family and passionate about medicine. He loved chatting with patients and friends, telling a good story or joke, and adored his dogs. His jovial nature and playful sense of humour will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held at Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa on Friday, September 23, 2022 at 10:30am, followed by a reception.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Southlake Medical Centre and The Ottawa Heart Institute.

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Dr.Newton. I was one of the fortunate ones to have Arnie deliver ALL three of my sons at York County Hospital.. He will be remembered for his warmth and his sense of humour as well as his dedication to his patients - it was worth the drive and the wait!

Rita and I would like to express our deepest and heartfelt condolences to Marie, Jennifer, Alison, Mark and Adam and their families, for the loss of such a wonderful person. I have known him for many years not only as a colleague at York County Hospital in Newmarket, but our families have also known each other for many years being neighbours living on the same street. We will miss him greatly, for his warmth, compassion and kindness to everyone, and for the great medical care to his patients and mostly to Rita with the delivery of our daughter Amanda. There were many memorable happy days years ago, when he and the children come around on Halloween nights. We also remember the love he had for those two great Golden Retrievers, Max and Gibson that he was so proud of and also Mandy, the little dachshund. He was a great family man who was a loving husband to Marie and a great father to his four wonderful children. He will be greatly missed and may he rest in peace.

Marie I was deeply saddened to learn of Arnie's passing. I truly enjoyed my time working for him and was always happy when our paths crossed and we could have a catch up chat. He always had time even if the office was running very late. My sincere condolences to you and your family.
