William “Duncan” Forbes passed away on Monday, May 30th, 2022 unexpectedly. The world has lost a great father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and all-around remarkable man.
If you asked Duncan, his greatest accomplishment wasn’t his 50 years of service as a sprinkler fitter, it was being a father to his two daughters Miranda and Wynter (Shawn) and a grandfather to his three grandsons Harrison, Franklin and Liam. Duncan’s daughters and grandsons were the pride and joy of his life. The legacy of Duncan’s kind spirit, passion for sports and love of music will live on through them.
Duncan is survived by his siblings Jim Forbes (Heather), Dale MacDonald (Jim), Janice Fraser (Jim), Marilyn Forbes and many nephews and nieces. Duncan was preceded in death by his parents Leslie and Della Forbes.
A Memorial Service will be held at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Ave, Ottawa) on Thursday, June 9th from 10:30am to 1:30pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at Connor’s Irish Pub (2401 St. Joseph Blvd, Orleans) on Thursday, June 9th from 7pm until last call where we’ll raise a glass (or three) to this incredible man and give him the retirement party he deserved.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Duncan’s memory can be made to CHEO.

My deepest and most heartfelt condolences to all of the Forbes family and friends.
Duncan, words cannot describe the utter shock and disbelief upon learning of your unexpected passing. It has truly been a pleasure working alongside you and I am forever grateful to have crossed paths with you. I will always cherish our breakfasts sharing laughs and talking about our families, music, hockey & especially golf, which sadly, we never got to play together. Genuinely one of a kind, you will never be forgotten and live forever in our hearts & memories.
May you Rest In Peace.

Meeting Duncan in Ottawa with Brian and Trish was a very good thing. I thoroughly enjoyed golfing with Duncan. He had a very good sense of humor and made the walk on the links just that much more enjoyable. Hazel and I will miss you.

Duncan...a man of MANY words.
Along with your strong work ethic, morning coffee, and a smile that would light up a room, you were most of all, a family man. You demonstrated what it means to be a class act and true gentleman that we all aspire to emulate. You were loyal to your profession and even more so to your loving family and grandchildren.
I will always appreciate the short time I had working alongside you. What I remember mostly was your work ethic and your "get'er done" attitude.
You will be missed, but never forgotten.
