It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lynn Lanigan on August 31st, 2021, at the age of 76. Throughout her lifetime, Lynn was passionate about helping and remembering others, there wasn’t a birthday or event she failed to acknowledge, whether with a card or a phone call. Lynn was decorated with the Golden Jubilee Medal for her tireless work with the Ottawa Heart Institute Alumni. Married in Dublin, Ireland in 1964, she travelled the world with her young Royal Naval Officer husband, Gerry. They enjoyed a worldwide network of dear friends, and in 1981, emigrated to Canada with their children, Robin and Susan, settling in Ottawa.
Lynn will be terribly missed by her entire family. Devoted daughter of the late Al Stanfield and the late Irene Cook. Beloved wife of Gerry Lanigan for 56 years, loving mother to Robin and Susan, loved sister of Paul and wife, Lynn. Doting Nanna to her grandchildren, Kathleen, Siobhan, and Kieran. She leaves behind many other dear family members, adored god-children and a wide circle of friends.
If the true measure of a person is the circle of their friends, then Lynn was immeasurable.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private service will take place. We invite you to register via livestream by visiting Lynn’s memorial page at https://beechwoodottawa.ca/en/services/lynn-irene-ellen-lanigan and following the livestream registration link. Interment at Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation. Tributes and condolences may be left on Beechwood's tribute website.
