It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Bob Jones, in hospital surrounded by loving family, on Thursday, August 5th, 2021, just one week shy of his 95th birthday.
Born in Chatham, New Brunswick, he was the son of the late Robert and Edna (Green) Jones. He is survived by his son Frank Jones (Claudia), Ottawa; daughter Susan Cournoyer (Rob), Eganville; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife Ethel; daughter Janet Kowalenko; sisters Gertrude Brunette and Marian Nicholson; brothers Richard, Autie, and Charles.
A WWII Army Veteran and a retired officer (F/L) of the RCAF, Bob enjoyed reminiscing about events he experienced during his military career, with whom he proudly served Canada around the globe.
Bob was a loving husband to Ethel for over 70 years, an extremely proud Father and "Grandpa/Grampie"; who provided guidance, comfort, and a welcoming approach to both his family and friends throughout his life.
Per Bob's wishes no public funeral is planned. Donations in Bob's memory may be made to the Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at the Oakpark Retirement Community; and to the Ottawa Hospital General Campus Emergency Room staff. Arrangements entrusted to Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services.
