Wayne Alfred Smith of Ottawa, Ontario passed away on June 2, 2021, at the age of 86 years. He was born on July 2, 1934, at Weaver Settlement, Nova Scotia., the son of the late Major Kenneth Earle Smith, ED, CD, and the late Viola Louise Smith (Cosman). He was pre-deceased by his sister Elinor Louise Smith, one brother, the late Major Kenneth Earle Smith, Jr, OMM, CD and is survived by one brother, Gordon Bryson Smith (Gloria Millet) of Kentville, Nova Scotia. He was also pre-deceased by his loving wife Renate Smith (Kettner-Klimmer). He leaves behind his two children Dieter Wayne Smith (Susan), and Sandra Harquail (Claude), his four grandchildren, Matthieu Olivier Smith (Mélanie), Tiffany Alexandra Smith (Andrew), Jessica Harquail (Brad) and Kenneth Wayne Harquail, and his two great-grandchildren, Mégane Lily Smith and Magalie Ève Smith.
Wayne was a kind, compassionate, generous and well-respected man who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
A special thank you to the Ottawa region dialysis team for the excellent care Wayne received throughout his many years as one of their patients.
A private family interment was held at the National Military Cemetery of the Canadian Forces.
