It is with profound sadness that the family of Dan McEachern announces his passing on Monday, 21 June 2021, at the age of 79. Dan was born on January 5, 1942, in Malartic, QC. A devoted and beloved husband to Lynne (Ladouceur), his partner in life for 57 years. Loving father of Shannon Keon (Tim) and Amanda McEachern. Also grieving his passing are his great grandchildren, Jacob deRepentigny, Harmony Witters, and Félix Brunet; grandchildren, Brandon Witters, Jessy deRepentigny, Hailley Witters and Jamilee McEachern; one sister, Margaret Stadnichuk, three brothers, John (Shelly) McEachern, Rod (Debbie) McEachern and Allan (Sherry) MacDonell; along with numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Dan McEachern, mother Dawn MacDonell (Matchett), stepfather Angus MacDonell, sister Joan Theriault (McEachern), and brother Frank McEachern. Dan served 28 years in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) as a Communication Technician. During his time in the CAF, Dan worked at various locations throughout Canada and abroad, such as Metz, France; and Lahr, Germany. No matter where he went, Dan was always proud to wear the uniform, build new friendships and share his experiences. Following his outstanding military career, he continued to serve his country as a civilian employee with the Department of National Defence for an additional 18 years at Louis St. Laurent Bldg., Hull QC. Among his passions were traveling in the RV, reading, watching movies, spending time in his workshop and making homemade strawberry wine (the best). All of those shared with his wife Lynne. Most of all, Dan loved his family, having family gatherings and spending time with his grandchildren. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private funeral will be held at the National Military Cemetery located at Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa.

From camping at Presquille 50 years ago, Barry and Dan fishing for smelts in Trenton and the numerous shared visits, such special memories we will cherish. This man was like another brother to us. Much love to the family, we will miss him but take comfort that he is meeting up with many family members. RIP Dan xo

Our sympathy for you and your family's loss Lynne. We will always remember the visit you guys took to the Charleston Provincial Park and visited with us. Dan amazed us how he could turn that big RV around in small places. RIP Dan

Dear dear Lynne and family,
We so loved Danny and with deeply grieving hearts with you, we share the sting at his dying. When we first met both of you at Ottawa airport, your arms were wide open to welcome us into your worlds. Gracious, happy, ever ready to share whatever you had with us. We toured around Ottawa and the military museum as Dan and Lynne patiently versed us on the many questions we had. We were strangers no more. A long friendship was formed with jokes, laughter and hugs. So much love was given even though there was great pain ,Dan was a constant, happy presence. You will be in our daily prayers as you transition and RIP. So ,with a pure white candle softly glowing in remembrance of you, we say goodbye for now. Your Heavenly family eagerly awaits your arrival. Always with love, Nancy and John Stahl ??

Dan was the best brother-in law I could ever have had. He treated me like his little sister, ( teasing, watching over, interested in ). I will miss him greatly, and think of him often…with a smile. ?
