It is with profound sadness that the family of Dan McEachern announces his passing on Monday, 21 June 2021, at the age of 79. Dan was born on January 5, 1942, in Malartic, QC. A devoted and beloved husband to Lynne (Ladouceur), his partner in life for 57 years. Loving father of Shannon Keon (Tim) and Amanda McEachern. Also grieving his passing are his great grandchildren, Jacob deRepentigny, Harmony Witters, and Félix Brunet; grandchildren, Brandon Witters, Jessy deRepentigny, Hailley Witters and Jamilee McEachern; one sister, Margaret Stadnichuk, three brothers, John (Shelly) McEachern, Rod (Debbie) McEachern and Allan (Sherry) MacDonell; along with numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Dan McEachern, mother Dawn MacDonell (Matchett), stepfather Angus MacDonell, sister Joan Theriault (McEachern), and brother Frank McEachern. Dan served 28 years in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) as a Communication Technician. During his time in the CAF, Dan worked at various locations throughout Canada and abroad, such as Metz, France; and Lahr, Germany. No matter where he went, Dan was always proud to wear the uniform, build new friendships and share his experiences. Following his outstanding military career, he continued to serve his country as a civilian employee with the Department of National Defence for an additional 18 years at Louis St. Laurent Bldg., Hull QC. Among his passions were traveling in the RV, reading, watching movies, spending time in his workshop and making homemade strawberry wine (the best). All of those shared with his wife Lynne. Most of all, Dan loved his family, having family gatherings and spending time with his grandchildren. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private funeral will be held at the National Military Cemetery located at Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa.

When I was posted to Ottawa in the early 90’s, I’d often visit uncle Dan and aunt Lynne on weekends. Those conversations shared, I will always remember and cherish. Dan helped set me up and plan for the future. He was a mentor to me in so many ways. Dan, I’m going to miss you and your stories. Love you buddy! RIP.

Dan was always my "big brother", as we were always together growing up. I always respected his words of wisdom and will miss his humor, wit, and long stories.
Our deepest condolences go out to Lynne and the girls, and we will all miss him very much.
RIP bro.....
