Peacefully, and with her devoted husband by her side, Karen passed away after a lengthy battle with Cancer. She lived the last of her days as she had lived the rest of her life, with grace, humour and most of all with kindness. She is survived by her loving husband Robert, Stepchildren Katie and Jeff, Grandchildren Macy, Russell, Eva and Gregory. Cherished sisters Sandra (Wayne), Cheryl (Bruce), Ida (the late Robert) and Debra. Loving aunt to William, Marta, Craig, Kayleigh, Jason, Dara and Stephanie. Predeceased by her parents William Pollex and Ida (Ruch) and cherished sister Wendy.
A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and all the other front line medical staff who treated Karen with all the care and respect that she deserved. To all the friends and family that reached out and helped Karen in this difficult time, your words and efforts were greatly appreciated and will not be forgotten.
Following a small private ceremony, Karen will be laid to rest on a family plot at Beechwood Cemetery, a larger celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
Karen's passing has left a large hole in our lives that cannot be filled but we can honour her memory by treating each other as she treated us, with love and compassion. We will miss you forever Karen and we are sure that your Angel wings look beautiful on you.

Karen was a beautiful soul, taken far too soon from friends and family. I will miss her smile and my shopping buddy.

We are so, so sorry to hear this sad news. Having moved away from Ottawa several years ago, we had no idea that Karen was sick. She and Bob came to stay with us in Nova Scotia and in Mexico and there never was a kinder soul than Karen, and always with a twinkle in her eye. She and Bob made such a great team in every way and we send Bob and the entire family our most heartfelt condolences. How incredibly sad.
