It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Gary Wilfred Jamieson announces his sudden passing at home on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at the age of 65. Gary was pre-deceased by his parents Jean and Lloyd, brother Don and brother-in-law Louis. He will be fondly remembered and profoundly missed by his brothers and sisters: Carol (Louis Cholette, decd), Doug (Charlotte), David (Connie), Joanne (Randy), Kevin (Sue), and Jody (Jojo), his many nieces and nephews, and the friends he made during his long career with the Ottawa Citizen. Gary will also be sadly missed by his closest friends Ken Versavel, Phil Baldwin and Nancy Campbell who we are very grateful that he had in his life. He is remembered as a quiet but kind person with a unique sense of humour, always up for a good laugh and that above all else, enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. We take solace in knowing he is resting in peace with Mom, Dad and our brothers in heaven. He will forever be in our hearts, thoughts and memories. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date. In memory of Gary, in lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to the Canadian Celiac Association.

I was surprised and very sorry to hear the news of Gary's passing. We worked together at the Ottawa Citizen. Gary knew I was a lover of decorating magazines. Many times I would return to my desk to find a hand delivered magazine he knew I would enjoy after his trip to the mailroom. I always thought that was so kind of him. My deepest condolences to his family.
