Written by Lynne Thompson & Jeff Thompson (mom and dad)

Today we write about mental health.

We are parents of one amazing child, but we were gifted with having two.  For those who don't know, we gave birth to a absolutely gorgeous girl who held our hearts in her hands. Later in life she came to us as a young adult and told us she had never been comfortable about her body and how he felt inside.

we made sure we had the best of the best therapists and doctors, who then gave us our very handsome, intelligent, beautiful son.

No matter what, our love was unconditional love and would always be there to keep him safe.

During these times of lockdown and social distancing it took a tole on his mental health and we missed the signs, or he just hid them that well.  Alex took himself on a walk not to return for us to hold again.

So, during these times, please in memory of Sarah Anne Thompson or Alexander Wayne Thompson our one and only child.  Speak up, get help.

Hold your loved one tighter and always say I love you no matter the event.

Due to the restrictions put in place by COVID-19, a private family gathering will be held at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services. A larger Celebration of Life will be held in Alexander's memory at a later date. For those who wish to make a donation in lieu of flowers, please do so towards the Kids Helpline, Ottawa.

Dear Lynne and Jeff May you find peace in your sorrow knowing that your unconditional love
for your child met all his expectations for a better life. But, the psychological side effects of this pandemic added an unbearable , overloaded cross too heavy to bear. Alex gave back his life and soul to God for his salvation. May he rest in peace with his Saviour.

My sincere condolences. My heart aches so much for his loss. We met through mutual friends when I was first coming out. He invited me to nights out with his group of friends and always treated me like family. He was such a kind soul. I feel so grateful to have met him. I'm in disbelief over his loss. My thoughts are with you during these difficult times.

Lynne,

My deepest condolences. I only spoke to Alex once but he was extremely polite and very appreciative of my time. Thank you for speaking out so truthfully and I am sending thoughts and prayers to your family during these hard times.

I am heartbroken over the sudden and tragic loss of your son. Alex and I went to highschool together. He always had a good heart.

Though Alex and I lost touch, it's clear to me that he had a profound positive impact on many people.

Your message of mental health resonates with me, especially during these isolating times.

My heart goes out to you during these difficult times.

Words can't even begin to express my sorrow for your loss. Alex was such a wonderful young man. I have such fond memories of our tutoring lessons. He would always say yes "Mama". He really didn't need any tutoring he was so super smart. He had a brilliant mind and heart that lite up the room and made everyone around him feel so good. I know Alex is looking down with that beautiful smile of his. The world was made a little better with having Alex in it, even though it was just way too short. You are in my prayers.

Some of the best memories I have from my time at the Convention Centre had Alex in them. He really was an extraordinary inspiration and an incredible person. And he was always talking about his mom Lynne, who was his best friend. I cannot fathom the heartbreak you all are going through. The words you wrote are powerful and will stay with me for a long time as a mom and a friend. All my love and strength to everyone missing Alex.
