In Loving Memory

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that Cheryl, Tyler and Jason announce the passing of their loving husband and proud father, Peter Frey.

Surrounded by his family, Peter passed away at the Gatineau Hospital on Friday February 5, 2021 at the age of 60, after a short, sudden and aggressive battle with cancer.

Peter was born on January 4, 1961 in Chapais, Quebec, a loving son of the late Erna (née Bayer) and the late Fritz Frey. Beloved husband of Cheryl (née Bissonnette) and loving father to Tyler and Jason. Dear brother of Carole and Rene (Julie Blondin). Will be dearly remembered by his mother-in-law; Helen (the late Richard Bissonnette), his sisters-in-law; Karen (Cliff Hobbs), Nancy (Jaime Fuller), brothers-in-law David (Erin Webb), Bruce (Katherine Hall) and many nieces and nephews.

Peter’s big personality and large presence will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Those of us who knew him best will take away a lifetime of fond memories. His love of the warmth and travel led to a few faraway sun worshiper havens and many drives to unknown places, roads that went nowhere, yet somewhere he just had to discover. His quick wit and good common sense led to many spirited conversations. He discovered the love of gardening which was on display everywhere we lived. Mostly he loved his family, his children were his pride and joy and he loved them unconditionally. Let’s not forget the love he had for his pets, they were a big part of the family. We love you Peter and are missing you terribly!

The family would like to thank the ICU staff at the Gatineau Hospital, Dr. Dallaire and all the staff at the Gatineau Cancer Clinic, the ICU staff at the Shawville Hospital and Dr. Wootton for their compassionate care of Peter.

A private Graveside service will be held early spring at Beechwood Cemetery, 280 Beechwood Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Peter may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Peter became a colleague and friend many years ago and I miss him dearly. We did indeed have spirited conversations many times, but always came away with a sense of better understanding. I will miss these conversations. Our toughts and prayers are with you.
Rest in peace my friend.

Dearest Cheryl, Tyler and Jason,
Just happened to come upon this sad notice of Peter's passing.
I have fond memories of seeing you and Peter from time to time at family gatherings. We always enjoyed our conversations and "catching up."
Try to find peace in your own memories. No one can ever take them away.
Thinking of you with love and prayers.
