In Loving Memory
It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that Cheryl, Tyler and Jason announce the passing of their loving husband and proud father, Peter Frey.
Surrounded by his family, Peter passed away at the Gatineau Hospital on Friday February 5, 2021 at the age of 60, after a short, sudden and aggressive battle with cancer.
Peter was born on January 4, 1961 in Chapais, Quebec, a loving son of the late Erna (née Bayer) and the late Fritz Frey. Beloved husband of Cheryl (née Bissonnette) and loving father to Tyler and Jason. Dear brother of Carole and Rene (Julie Blondin). Will be dearly remembered by his mother-in-law; Helen (the late Richard Bissonnette), his sisters-in-law; Karen (Cliff Hobbs), Nancy (Jaime Fuller), brothers-in-law David (Erin Webb), Bruce (Katherine Hall) and many nieces and nephews.
Peter’s big personality and large presence will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Those of us who knew him best will take away a lifetime of fond memories. His love of the warmth and travel led to a few faraway sun worshiper havens and many drives to unknown places, roads that went nowhere, yet somewhere he just had to discover. His quick wit and good common sense led to many spirited conversations. He discovered the love of gardening which was on display everywhere we lived. Mostly he loved his family, his children were his pride and joy and he loved them unconditionally. Let’s not forget the love he had for his pets, they were a big part of the family. We love you Peter and are missing you terribly!
The family would like to thank the ICU staff at the Gatineau Hospital, Dr. Dallaire and all the staff at the Gatineau Cancer Clinic, the ICU staff at the Shawville Hospital and Dr. Wootton for their compassionate care of Peter.
A private Graveside service will be held early spring at Beechwood Cemetery, 280 Beechwood Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Peter may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

You were my dad Dan’s lifelong best friend and my sister and I grew up with you all like family, I have so many fond memories of our families together, of you standing as my dad’s best man at he and my mother’s wedding. You had the best sense of humor and I’ll never forget how you coined the phrase “Take me as I am!” As you, Cheryl, Carole and my parents laughed and joked around our dining room table after one of our dinners, it became an inside joke for all of you. Whenever you were around it was always either great laughter or a great debate! You saw me grow from a bratty kid into a headstrong teenager then a young adult. I will never forget the tears, sadness and devastation on your face as you helped carry my dad (Daniel Gaudette’s) casket at his funeral all those years ago when we lost him, you grew up together and were like brothers. I know my dad and mom (Bernadette Gaudette) were there to greet you when you crossed over to heaven, and I know my dad had a beer waiting to reunite with you! Cheryl, the boys, Carole and Renee, I am sending all of you a big hug, my deepest sympathies, and healing light and love into the universe for all of you. My heart and thoughts are with you all during this time of grief. Rest assured, this life is not the end and he is and will always be with you watching over you.

I would like to wish you Cheryl and your two sons my sympathies. It is hard to believe that he is no more with us. I spent so wonderful years working with Peter and I missed him already a lot and now this is so sad what happened. I liked him very much in the way he was as a person. It is so difficult to talk about him in the past. Bon courage!! Pierre

I am deeply sorry and sad to hear of Peter’s passing. We worked together in the recent years and he was always a ray of sunshine in the hallways at work. Always with a smile and a fun conversation that followed. My thoughts are with the whole family! God Bless. Joyce
