It is with sadness that the family of Shirlie Howsam announces her passing at the General Campus of The Ottawa Hospital on Sunday, October 4. She was the beloved wife of the late James (Jim) Elliott. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Barbara Donaldson, her brother Ralph (the late Sylvia) and her nephews Andy Donaldson and Dave Howsam (Margie).
Shirlie worked for thirty-seven years in the Food Research Institute of Agriculture Canada. Her investigations in the field of flavour research and nutritional components of various food products led to a lifelong love of healthy cooking and eating which she shared with family and friends
Shirlie and Jim had a happy retirement, travelling extensively - across the United States, taking many wonderful cruises and spending the winters in Jekyll Island, Georgia.
She will be interred in a private family ceremony beside her beloved husband in the National Military Cemetery at Beechwood Cemetery.

Very sad to hear this news. I enjoyed our Christmas visits together with the Shirley and Howsam clan. My condolences.

May God keep you in the palm of his hands; smiling after being made aware of the nutritional value of the life you shared with others. RIP friend
