I had the privilege and honour of being a close friend of Aurels since about 1967 when we first met in Nepeans Leslie Park Community. We had stayed in close contact for the past 50 plus years and always more or less kept up to date with our lives. His untimely passing certainly took many of us by surprise and I will always remember Aurel as being a very dear, respectful and loyal close friend. We will meet again. at some point... RIP my friend!

First met Aurel at Leslie Park around 1966/1967 where we hung together in the same group and had some great times that I will never forget, especially swimming at Hogs Backs Rapids. Throughout the years we got together here in Toronto. I remember having a lovely dinner at his house in Etobicoke where he fascinated my family and myself with his aquarium, RIP Aurel.

I met Aurel a year or two after moving to Ottawa from Saskatoon in 1966. He is only one of two people I know that made their way to Woodstock in Aug of ‘69. We shared countless fun times together before he moved to Toronto. We kept in touch over the years visiting each other by long phone conversations or in person. He was part of the original Leslie Park gang, but we were a peaceful gang of hippies just out there enjoying our lives to the fullest. I think by the time we were 20 I felt like I was 70. And then here we are today my friend. Your leading the way and getting the place ready for the rest of the “gang”. Be at Peace my dear sweet friend. Always a Prince. Sure gonna miss ya;(

My deepest condolences to all.
I just learned today of his passing. We had spoken a few weeks back about him feeling better and the possibility of grabbing a coffee together so this was a shock. Aurel was one of my men we had been friends for almost 20 years...he is missed.

Very sad to learn of Aurels passing. We were room mates years ago when we both worked together in Edmonton. Aurel had a great laugh, he was smart and fun to hangout with. RIP Aurel.
Rest In Peace Aurel. You will be missed.
