On Monday, July 13th, 2020, Gillian FitzGibbon, wife, mother, daughter and sister, passed away peacefully in her sleep after a difficult battle with cancer. She is preceded by her beloved parents Gerald Michael FitzGibbon and Maud FitzGibbon (nee Rouse). Gillian will be forever remembered by her husband and best friend John Peacock, her treasured son Nicholas Pacella, and her loving sister Hilary FitzGibbon (late Claude Charron) who took care of her in her final days. Gillian will be sorely missed by her extended family, business partners, fellow artists, and dear friends. May she soar high on her sleek crow wings, while we bask in the light and the love she brings.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at Beechwood Cemetery, rain or shine. Guests are asked to gather at 11:45 a.m. under the gazebo near the main entrance.

In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to donate to one of the three charities that were dear to Gillian and her family;  Big Sky Ranch Animal Sanctuary, Canadian Cancer Society, or the Ottawa School of Art.

A celebration of Gillian's life will be held on Saturday, August 1st, 2020.  Further details will follow.

I have known Gillian since our days well spent at Cicle J ranch. We rode many fine hours and shared many adolescent ideas and laughs together with friends. You will never be forgotten Gillian.

John, Nicholas and Hillary. We are so saddened by your loss. Gillian was so vibrant, smart as a whip and the most wonderful best friend to my late husband Philip who passed only 7 months ago. They would talk for hours during his fight of pancreatic cancer. Two child hood friends taken away from us too soon. So ironic that Gillian passed on what would of been Philip’s 61st birthday. I’m sure he was there to greet her in her new life. May the two best friends of over 50 years Rest In Peace. God bless them and may they be free of pain as they fly amongst the clouds above us. Love to both. They will never be forgotten and remain in on hearts forever.

My sincere condolences to John, Nicholas and Hilary for your loss. I have known Gillian since our high school days. There were often years that went by when we were not in touch, but when we were it was as if no time had passed. Gillian was talented, fun loving, vivacious and had the ability to make me laugh, in any situation. A truly wonderful soul.

So sorry to hear this sad news about Gill. Gill was part of our high school class at Elmwood. She was such fun and I will always remember her enjoying a good joke or getting in on the fun when we would do a prank. Our class has held reunions over the years of which Gill was always part of. She will be missed. My condolences to Gill’s family.
