Florence Erma Mona “Peggy” Cook (nee Tait) passed away peacefully at Robertson House in Ottawa on April 27th at the age of 86. She is predeceased by her parents Joseph Tait and Florence McKenna, her loving husband of 62 years Raymond Cook, her beloved daughter Sheila Curtis, her sister Patricia and her four brothers, Lawrence, Irving, Gerald and Francis “Pete” Tait. Cherished Mother of Gregory Cook (Trudy), Thomas Cook (Beverley) and Mother-in-Law of Paul Curtis . Treasured Nannie to Holly (Simon), Heidi (Matt), Alicia, Hilary (John), Jessica (Matt) and Brittney. Adoring Great-Nannie to Darcy, Grady, Abbey, Gracie, Trenton, Felix and Tate. Special sister to Alfie, Rita, Joan, Zita and Inez. Peggy is survived by several nieces and nephews and was a beloved Sister-in-Law and Aunt to several family members on the East Coast. Peggy spent her childhood growing up in Stonecliffe, ON and most of her adult life in Deep River, ON. Peggy was a former employee of Chalk River Nuclear Laboratories, where she found her calling through cooking and feeding staff members in the cafeteria for many years. Peggy and Raymond were active members of the Royal Canadian Dragoons Association and they made many friends all over the world while Raymond was in the military, and during the years they spent travelling the world together. Peggy’s life was devoted to her family, and she will always be remembered for her love of cooking and taking care of those she loved. Many thanks to relatives and friends who have reached out to her over the last few years as she moved to her residence in Ottawa. She always felt supported and loved by her Ottawa Valley friends and family and her extended Nova Scotia Family. In addition, the family would like to thank the caring staff at Robertson House, the PSW’s from the LHIN and the staff at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, for their exceptional care of Peggy. Following Peggy’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family burial at Beechwood Cemetary in Ottawa will take place at a later date. Donations can be made to The Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation (www.ottawacancer.ca) in memory of her daughter Sheila.

I'm so sorry to hear of Peggy's passing and send heartfelt condolences to the family. The Cook's lived a few houses down from us on on Laurentian Street in DR and I worked with Peggy at my very first job as a banquet waitress. I remember her as having a really good sense of humour and just a nice lady!

When I was a young boy I recall my dad taking me trout fishing in Quebec with an old friend and patient of his, Joe Tait. My childhood memory of Joe was a soft spoken interesting kind fellow with a soft sense of humor..... which leads me to Sheila with whom I went to MHS with. So she inherited many of Joe's traits including kindness however not as mellow in the humor deptartment : ) After school, I hired Sheila to clean rooms at my motel after her daily bus run and when she brought Peggy along to help, I got the whole picture. The two of them !! Many laughs and lots of good baking came to the shop! I didn't know Peggy's mom however Joe past a lot of good characteristics along through his kids and through Peggy to the Cook family and their kids. RIP Peggy and say Hi to Sheila .....

Sister Peggy will be missed. When our Mom passed at an early age, she became the 'defacto' one to guide the younger ones. I will cherish her good humor, and my visits to Peggy & Ray. Rest in Peace and I'm sure Heaven and Ray await.
