It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved wife, Susan Colleen Giles-Thompson. Susan leaves behind her much-loved stepdaughters Stephanie and Laura.  She was a cherished grandmother (Oma) to Malik, Faris, Zain, and Ella. She is also survived by her mother, Marilyn (Giles) Devlin; her brothers, Greg Giles and Brian Giles (Joanne); her niece, Konstance; her nephews, Logan and Mitchell; and her stepbrothers, Eric Devlin Jr. (Sandra) and Terry Devlin (Tammy). Susan was predeceased by her father, Bernard; her sister, Catherine; and her stepfather, Eric Devlin.

Susan was born in Smiths Falls, Ontario, and was a graduate of Carleton University. In Ottawa, she worked in the retail sporting industry, printing industry, and HR industry.

Over the years, Susan built many enduring friendships in all aspects of her life. She was loyal and always provided help and support to those around her. She was beautiful, sincere, gracious, and a poised individual who would light any room.

Her family, friends, and colleagues will miss her dearly. We know she is now in good hands and will be watching over us.

Rest in Peace, my Love…. Jeff

My sincere condolences to the Thompson and Giles family. Susan and I became friends in high school, and I have many fond memories of those days. We were in Spanish and law class together and she somehow convinced me to join Ontario Youth parliament and subsequently, we volunteered for many provincial and federal campaigns. I spent many hours at the Giles family home on Church Street in Smiths Falls, she was so kind and welcoming to me. We met up later in Ottawa in the early 90’s and frequented the James Street Feed company on Thursday evenings to watch hockey on the big screen. Susan could do anything she set her mind to, one of which was fostering many great friendships. She was a great friend to me, and I will cherish the many happy memories of our times together.
