On October 2, 2019 the world lost an incredible man. It is with broken hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Dave while on vacation in California. Dave left this world the way he lived in this world, the way he experienced and shared this world... with childlike joy. He will be forever loved and missed by his wife, Kathy, and his four children: Jen (Josh), Jacqui (Christopher), Rob (Alanna), and A.J. (Kayla). He was cherished by his parents Don and Mary, and his siblings: Wendi (Richard), Jane (Hugh), and Andrew (Patricia).

Family and friends are invited to visit at Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave., Ottawa on Friday, October 11 from 2-4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. and on Saturday, October 12 from 3 p.m. until the time of the Celebration of Dave's life at 4 p.m. in the Sacred Space.

Memorial donations in Dave's name can be directed to Manotick Culture, Parks & Recreation Association (MCPRA) for the Centennial Park Enhancement Project.  Donations may be made by e-transfer to mcpra.cp.donations@gmail.com (please send a separate e-mail with your security question password) or by cheque which can be mailed to 5333 Driscoll Dr. Manotick, ON  K4M 1E3 (please include Dave's name on the memo line).    In order to notify his family of your donation, memorial cards will be available for you to complete at Beechwood National Memorial Centre.

Dear Kathy, Jen, Jacqui, Rob and AJ,
We were shocked when our nephew, Stephen Norton, informed us of David’s unexpected passing. He was such a nice guy! We treasure our chats at Lake Saint Pierre and our canoe expedition to the adjoining lakes. He will be missed!
Your Lake Saint Pierre friends, Anita and Jacques
Unfortunately, we are presently out of town and regrettably will not be able to attend his memorial service.

Rita and I were stunned to hear of Dave's sudden passing. As newly-minted in-laws, we had just begun to get to know Dave & Kathy through our children (Rob & Alanna). We are truly, deeply saddened at this tragedy. We cannot begin to imagine how the Arntfield family is coping with this. Our sincere condolences to Kathy, Jen, Jacqui, Rob and A.J.

Once you met Dave you had no choice but to love him. He was so full of life and goodness. Always smiling.
He was a great business associate, boss and mentor. Dave always was positive no matter the challenge. He was coach , mentor and cheerleader to everyone who worked for him.
He always talked about Cathy and their children. Very proud of them.
I’m a better person for knowing and spending time with Dave. Every time I see people laughing and enjoying each other’s company I will think of Dave. I will miss him.

Reading about your brother Dave reminds us how many lives are changed for the better by just one person. Because of that and countless happy memories, we never truly lose the ones we love - they are always with us. Andrew and Patricia, may that be a comfort to you both and your family at this sad time. Our deepest sympathy.

Rob and Alanna, We were very shocked and saddened to hear of your dad and father-in-law's sudden passing. Although we did not have the pleasure of meeting Dave, we can tell he is an incredible and much loved father, husband, family member and friend. May all your memories bring you strength and peace. I have worked with Dave for many years and always felt I was dealing with a special person. Dave was always willing to take the time I needed and gave professional advice that we relied heavily on. His thoughtfulness and wisdom set him apart from others - so I always looked forward to dealing with him. His loss is such a shock and loss! We will always remember him fondly and be aware of our loss when we have to move on!

Knowing Dave in excess of decades, I have learned so much from his leadership as a mentor, courage through challenges and change but most of all, sincerity through his friendship.

We are blessed to have shared our lives with such a Gentleman as Dave. His relentless smiles and laughs will continue to echo as we raise a glass in his memory as we did a mere month ago, and forever more...

"A gentleman is one who puts more into the world than he takes out." ~ George Bernard Shaw
