On October 2, 2019 the world lost an incredible man. It is with broken hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Dave while on vacation in California. Dave left this world the way he lived in this world, the way he experienced and shared this world... with childlike joy. He will be forever loved and missed by his wife, Kathy, and his four children: Jen (Josh), Jacqui (Christopher), Rob (Alanna), and A.J. (Kayla). He was cherished by his parents Don and Mary, and his siblings: Wendi (Richard), Jane (Hugh), and Andrew (Patricia).

Family and friends are invited to visit at Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave., Ottawa on Friday, October 11 from 2-4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. and on Saturday, October 12 from 3 p.m. until the time of the Celebration of Dave's life at 4 p.m. in the Sacred Space.

Memorial donations in Dave's name can be directed to Manotick Culture, Parks & Recreation Association (MCPRA) for the Centennial Park Enhancement Project.  Donations may be made by e-transfer to mcpra.cp.donations@gmail.com (please send a separate e-mail with your security question password) or by cheque which can be mailed to 5333 Driscoll Dr. Manotick, ON  K4M 1E3 (please include Dave's name on the memo line).    In order to notify his family of your donation, memorial cards will be available for you to complete at Beechwood National Memorial Centre.

What a shock to hear this terrible news. Dave was my VP of competitive hockey operations with ORMHA. Condolences to Cathy and the family. Stay strong in this troubling time.

I am heartbroken at the loss of David. Several years ago I reconnected with my cousin David and his wonderful family. David was the same lovely, warm and kind person that I recalled from childhood. He was well loved and was loving life. My deepest condolences to Dave's family and his many friends.

I joined the Motorcycle Ride for Dad executive family after Dave had stepped down and wished I had the opportunity to work with him as he was certainly loved and admired by all. I am so glad that I have met him personally over the last few years and saddens me to know that we won't see him. But we will feel him...for sure.

Dave and I joined TD Bank within a few weeks of each other back in the early 70’s. We were in training together and probably had more fun than we were supposed to. He was the kind of guy that everyone wanted to be like, or at least be around because he loved life and everything it had to offer. I was saddened to hear of Dave’s unexpected passing and I am disheartened to think of the pain and sorrow that his wife and kids are feeling. May you all help each other in your time of grief.

Over a career one meets many people.... some you wish you hadn't, others you wished you had and several your were truly glade you had.

I am truly grateful to have met and Dave early on in my career and had the opportunity to work with him in some great times and not so great times. Dave was the ultimate colleague, coach, friend and family man.

When the world and your circle looses Dave's qualities and decency, it is a deep loss. However If I know Dave, our loss is now heaven's gain and he is already making it a much better place.

Rest in Peace Dave. I and many will miss you.
