On October 2, 2019 the world lost an incredible man. It is with broken hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Dave while on vacation in California. Dave left this world the way he lived in this world, the way he experienced and shared this world... with childlike joy. He will be forever loved and missed by his wife, Kathy, and his four children: Jen (Josh), Jacqui (Christopher), Rob (Alanna), and A.J. (Kayla). He was cherished by his parents Don and Mary, and his siblings: Wendi (Richard), Jane (Hugh), and Andrew (Patricia).

Family and friends are invited to visit at Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave., Ottawa on Friday, October 11 from 2-4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. and on Saturday, October 12 from 3 p.m. until the time of the Celebration of Dave's life at 4 p.m. in the Sacred Space.

Memorial donations in Dave's name can be directed to Manotick Culture, Parks & Recreation Association (MCPRA) for the Centennial Park Enhancement Project.  Donations may be made by e-transfer to mcpra.cp.donations@gmail.com (please send a separate e-mail with your security question password) or by cheque which can be mailed to 5333 Driscoll Dr. Manotick, ON  K4M 1E3 (please include Dave's name on the memo line).    In order to notify his family of your donation, memorial cards will be available for you to complete at Beechwood National Memorial Centre.

Dear Kathy, Jenny, Jacqui, Rob, and AJ
I am so sorry to hear that Dave died. My heart goes out to you all. I was shocked to hear the news...I can't imagine how this has turned your lives upside down. Kathy if you ever feel like a cup of coffee and time together I would love treat you. I am not sure where you are living now but my address is the same.

Hermie and I went to Public School, Scouts, delivered papers together, High School,
played Baseball together and my best story was when we went to Jail together. To make a long story short I was arrested for Disorderly Conduct after the Vanier Cup 1977 in Toronto. I was in the back of the cop car and Hermie jumped on the hood of the cop car and started pounding the hood saying you can't take Finchky to jail.
Joe Schaffer who was there talked about the story at the funeral, said the cops did everything not arrest Herm but he went over the line. Being in the back seat of the cop car watching this whole ordeal the cops said i think this Dumb Ass wants to go to jail. The cops put Hermie in the back seat with me and he said Finchky with that infectious smile I couldn't let them send you in jail without you me.
Sorry there was 2 more stories that night that went over the line.
Hermie RIP the boys from Clarkson

Finchky
