On October 2, 2019 the world lost an incredible man. It is with broken hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Dave while on vacation in California. Dave left this world the way he lived in this world, the way he experienced and shared this world... with childlike joy. He will be forever loved and missed by his wife, Kathy, and his four children: Jen (Josh), Jacqui (Christopher), Rob (Alanna), and A.J. (Kayla). He was cherished by his parents Don and Mary, and his siblings: Wendi (Richard), Jane (Hugh), and Andrew (Patricia).

Family and friends are invited to visit at Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave., Ottawa on Friday, October 11 from 2-4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. and on Saturday, October 12 from 3 p.m. until the time of the Celebration of Dave's life at 4 p.m. in the Sacred Space.

Memorial donations in Dave's name can be directed to Manotick Culture, Parks & Recreation Association (MCPRA) for the Centennial Park Enhancement Project.  Donations may be made by e-transfer to mcpra.cp.donations@gmail.com (please send a separate e-mail with your security question password) or by cheque which can be mailed to 5333 Driscoll Dr. Manotick, ON  K4M 1E3 (please include Dave's name on the memo line).    In order to notify his family of your donation, memorial cards will be available for you to complete at Beechwood National Memorial Centre.

My best friend since 1963. Double dated with him and Kathy in 1968. Best man at each other’s Wedding in August 1979. 49 years at the Muskoka annual retreat, the last in June 2019. David is a one and only. One of one. Will miss you pal. Sincerely, Coach

Lynda and I are just so saddened by the loss of Dave.
It breaks our heart Kathy for you and your family.
Nothing was ever more important to Dave then his wife and all his children whom he adored

Dave was such a great friend all of my adult life and helped me so many times.

One amazing man

It is impossible to encapsulate the essence of Dave with words. To me he was simultaneously a friend, a mentor, a boss and a role model. He was the kind of man that shook up life around him; a loving father, a serious employer, an empathetic humanitarian sprinkled with crazy childlike glee. I am still in shock and will miss him dearly. Thanks for all the great memories my friend. You will be sorely missed by your family and many friends. Our condolences to Kathy and family from the bottom of our hearts. Bill and Doris

We were heartbroken to hear of Dave's passing. Unfortunately we had not seen him in a long time but reading all the wonderful comments people are saying brings back childhood memories of David during the Arntfield/Angus family get-togethers for holidays and vacations.

Our sincere condolences to Kathy, the children and the entire Arntfield family.

Where to start? Sauble Beach? Nail's basement? Countless hockey dressing rooms? Countless nights out and about with the late and dearly departed Lou? 7 AM tee-offs with the requisite M&C? My fondest memory is his broken middle finger in high school and how he loved showing it off. Only Dave.
Off to The Great Gig In The Sky , you've earned it Hermie. Enjoy your peace, forever and ever.

And take comfort in that Kathy. He is at peace , forever. The strength of the love of your family will enable all of you to rise above this tragedy together.

Sincerest condolences.

It’s been a few years since I have seen Dave but I wanted to let you know how extremely sad I was to hear of Dave’s untimely passing. I remember his mischievous smile, intelligence and benevolence. I have many happy memories of times shared with Dave. To Kathy and family, I hope that your many memories will bring solace in the days and weeks ahead.
Rest In Peace Herm. You are missed by many.

A tragic loss, so much life is gone! Dave made the most of life, while giving back to many in several ways. Our times together, from business dealings, skiing, golf, social events, etc. were times I enjoyed immensely. A rare person that can be admired for his strengths and weaknesses. He definitely left his mark on many of us!....missing you Dave.
