On October 2, 2019 the world lost an incredible man. It is with broken hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Dave while on vacation in California. Dave left this world the way he lived in this world, the way he experienced and shared this world... with childlike joy. He will be forever loved and missed by his wife, Kathy, and his four children: Jen (Josh), Jacqui (Christopher), Rob (Alanna), and A.J. (Kayla). He was cherished by his parents Don and Mary, and his siblings: Wendi (Richard), Jane (Hugh), and Andrew (Patricia).

Family and friends are invited to visit at Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave., Ottawa on Friday, October 11 from 2-4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. and on Saturday, October 12 from 3 p.m. until the time of the Celebration of Dave's life at 4 p.m. in the Sacred Space.

Memorial donations in Dave's name can be directed to Manotick Culture, Parks & Recreation Association (MCPRA) for the Centennial Park Enhancement Project.  Donations may be made by e-transfer to mcpra.cp.donations@gmail.com (please send a separate e-mail with your security question password) or by cheque which can be mailed to 5333 Driscoll Dr. Manotick, ON  K4M 1E3 (please include Dave's name on the memo line).    In order to notify his family of your donation, memorial cards will be available for you to complete at Beechwood National Memorial Centre.

I have known Dave since his National Trust/Scotia Bank days in Kingston. We have lost a valued work colleague but more importantly a cherished friend. Dave always went the extra mile to look after the needs of his clients. With grace, good humour and a deep understanding of the finance industry, Dave will be irreplaceable.. Deepest sympathy to Dave's family and friends. Goodbye my friend.

My condolences to Dave's family for his sudden passing. I met Dave at First City Trust in the 90s. Dave was a really special person, with a wonderful love of life and family that he wore with pride. I will never forget Dave's warm personality, his smile, his sense of humour, and the undeniable twinkle in his eye.

I was deeply shocked and saddened to hear of Dave's untimely passing. He was a good man and a good friend. Most of our discussions typically were business related but over the past few years we spent more time talking about cottaging rather than finance. Like many others I will miss him. My sincere condolences go to his family.

I worked with Dave many years ago and we became friends and car pool partners. Lost touch over the years, but reconnected several years ago when my work took to Ottawa regularly on business. Dave was the same guy then, that I knew 30 years before. The sentiments expressed in the obituary say it all. My sincere condolences to Dave’s family.

To say that I am saddened by Dave’s death would be an understatement! Dave is part of many collective and cherished memories of high school, the best group of people one could ever have the privilege of sharing life with. I feel blessed to have known Dave and send my heartfelt sympathy and abundant prayers to his loving wife Kathy, and his dear family . He will be missed and thought of with love, often!

There are no words to express our sadness at hearing of Dave’s passing. We have vivid memories of the hilarious times had by all when you were our ‘across the street’ neighbours in Burlington. Our sincere sympathy to you, Kathy and the now grown up kids, Jen, Rob, Jacqui and A.J.

Dave and I met as strangers, volunteering for the 2012 Ottawa Motorcycle Ride for Dad. We quickly became friends. I enjoyed the short time we had together, talking about our families, our careers, the Ride for Dad. I’ll miss the lunches at the city hall snack shop, the occasional email or phone call just to see how things were going. Most of all, I’ll miss his sharp humour, his reassuring words of encouragement and his generosity. My condolences to his family and friends. May divine providence give you strength and comfort in the days that lie ahead.

Volunteered with Dave on the MRFD team for several years. His quiet enthusiasm, passion and dedication will be missed. RIP buddy. Condolences to Kathy, Jen and the family.
