Peacefully at home on September 30, 2019 surrounded by his family.

He leaves his devoted wife and best friend Jean (nee Blair) of 57 years.  Loving father of daughter Janet (Carolyn Dey) Ottawa,  sons John of Calgary,  Blair (Emily) of Toronto.  He is survived by his sister Mary Caye Clarke (Don) of Hamilton.

Jack grew up in the farming community of Pakenham where he began his adult life as a farmer but subsequently decided he needed something more adventuresome.  This led him to obtain a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Carleton University where he met his wife Jean and a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Western Ontario.  Jack and Jean subsequently married and moved to Toronto where he worked in the Information Technology Industry.  The appeals of the Ottawa Valley with family and friends  drew them back to Ottawa.  He joined the Federal Government and worked as a Management Consultant and in Transportation Planning for Transport Canada which allowed him to develop many fond relationships within Ottawa and across Canada.  Towards the end of his career he became very much involved in developing transportation legislation and work associated with the World Trade Organization and the North America Free Trade Agreement.

On retirement he was able to devote time to reading, curling, skiing and golf with his wife Jean and developed many deep friendships.  Jack enjoyed travel with Jean both Internationally and Domestically.

Jack very much enjoyed following the progress of his family in pursuing their goals.  He was past President of the Sage Kiwanis Club of Ottawa.  He enjoyed the camaraderie and support of the Club.

The family invites you to join them at the Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Ave., on Thursday, October 10 for visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 12 p.m. in the Sacred Space.   A reception will follow.  Interment will take place in the Botanical Cremation Garden.

Donations to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, the Ottawa Heart Institute or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

RIP Jack. Thanks for all the Transport Canada work memories and the occasional conversations when we bumped into each other in Almonte. You were indeed a gentle and decent gentleman and will be missed. Our sincere condolences to your family.
