Died peacefully in Ottawa at the age of 98.  Born in Ottawa, Mary first lived in Hull, Quebec, started school in Palo Alto, California, then lived in Montreal until her retirement years, which were spent in Ottawa and Norway Bay (Bristol, Quebec).

Daughter of Walter E. Scott from Hull, and Gladys Hammond from Ironside (Gatineau, Quebec).  She attended Montreal West High School, McGill University, and Bishops University, also spending a summer at the Banff School of Fine Arts.  During World War II, Mary taught at Lachute High School, then married Homer Brady when he returned from overseas service.

She is survived by son Bruce (Linda), daughter Beverley Baily (Dane), grandchildren Heather Baily (Paul Besaw), Scott Brady (Younjung), Caryn Taylor (Tim), Devon Baily (Sarah), and nine great-grandchildren.

Interment took place at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, on February 9, 2021.  A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

For those wishing, memorial contributions to the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice would be appreciated.

Tom and I send our hugs and condolences to the Baily and Brady families. We know you'll cherish many good memories of your mom. We loved receiving Christmas cards over the years, featuring prints of Mary Brady's paintings such as the kids skating on the river at Norway Bay! With much love, Karen and Tom

Deepest sympathy to Bev and Bruce and your families. I have many fond memories of growing up at Norway Bay and spending time at your families cottage. Aileen and I always enjoyed dropping in to visit Mary and Homer.

I only knew Mary for a short time and it was a privilege to spend time with her and get to know her wonderful family. It was obvious that Mary was a lovely and much loved lady. Thank you for the opportunity. R.I.P. Mary.

I remember Mary and Homer being so very welcoming when I was a kid. Even the smell of their kitchen was always sweet. I remember Mary talking about gardening and reading us stories. I also remember her art on my wall as a child. So many lovely Norway Bay memories. Sending love to the whole family. xxx
