After a short, sudden and aggressive illness, Sharon Elizabeth Doucette, nee Burnett passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her husband of 58 years William (Bill), daughters Lori Ferguson (Ken) and Tammy Jones (Ronnie). She is predeceased by her parents Elizabeth Potter and Emerson Burnett and survived by her brother William Burnett (JoAnne). Originally from Toronto, she met and married her husband there. A military wife, she subsequently moved to 4Wing Germany, Greenwood NS, Dartmouth NS, St.Louis MO. and finally moved to Ottawa, ON. Sharon was first and foremost a homemaker, sewing clothes and decorating cakes during her children’s childhood. After her return to Ottawa, she worked in retail for twelve years at Eatons leaving that job to care for her three grandchildren. Over the years, she attended many awards ceremonies, graduations, hockey games and dance competitions in support of her grandchildren. In recent years she became a regular at a few local craft fairs with her crocheted baby blankets and jean quilts. She also attended aqua-fitness regularly and loved the social companionship of the ladies she met there. Sharon presence will be greatly missed by her family and friends and most especially her grandchildren of whom she was extremely proud. Her legacy will live on in the many kindnesses she showed others and the friendships she nurtured over many years. Many thanks are extended to all the friends and family who sent so many lovely cards and flowers. Sharon genuinely enjoyed each and every one of them.  Her family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation for the outstanding care and compassionate support received initially from Dr. Roberts and Dr. Chan (Ottawa Hospital), and subsequently from Dr. Vincent and Dr. Rioux from the Orleans Pallitative Group. Nurses Ainslee and Maggie and PSW’s Lola and Kaydra are also sincerely thanked for their empathetic and gentle care. The family hopes to hold a celebration of Sharon’s life in the summer when life returns to some semblance of normal. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider a donation to the charity of your choice.

We are going to miss Sharon very much. We looked forward to seeing her when we visited in Ottawa. Bill remembers his sister for making knitted slippers for all our family members and I will miss our chats at the hockey, ringette games of our grandchildren . Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time. We hope that you may find comfort in knowing she is at peace and pain free. We will always remember Aunt Sharon's kindness and generosity as we have enjoyed wearing her crocheted slippers and blankets throughout the years. We look forward to the summer when we can get together and further reminisce about the wonderful memories we shared with Aunt Sharon.
